Based on John McGahern's novel of the same name and set in 1950's Mayo, this is the searingly truthful story of Moran, a repressive patriarch whose daughters, bound together by love and fear of him, struggle painfully to establish their own lives away from the family home; and of his sons who manage to break free and to break his heart.
